Chocolate Steamed Buns

Ingredients

Method

  • Thaw dough overnight in the fridge, or for two hours on the counter.

  • Remove dough from package and knead until tough (2-5 minutes). Lightly oil your hands and rub the dough ball and the inside of a small glass bowl to keep dough from sticking to it. Place dough into bowl, then place small bowl into a slightly larger bowl that contains 1 cup hot water. Cover both bowls with plastic wrap and let dough rise for 2 hours.

  • Remove dough from bowls and stretch into a rectangle on the counter. Roll the long end of the rectangle from top to bottom to form a spiral. Pinch the dough together. Cut 1-1.5" pieces of the spiral and let rest for 20-30 minutes.

  • Boil a pot of water. When dough is ready, place them on pieces of parchment paper and place them into a steamer basket. Do not have them touching. Steam the dough for 20 minutes.

  • Remove the steamer basket from the boiling water but do not open the lid. Let the breads rest for 5 minutes first.

  • Eat your steamed buns plain, with peanut butter, with fruit spreads or even with cheeses. Store in an airtight container on the counter.
